4G history

In 2002, the strategic vision for 4G—which ITU designated as IMT Advanced—was laid out. In 2004, LTE was first proposed by NTT DoCoMo of Japan. In 2005, OFDMA transmission technology is chosen as candidate for the HSOPA downlink, later renamed 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) air interface E-UTRA.
